really enjoyed this! I listened to a lot of NIN last year and thought a lot about the band's association with strip clubs. In particular, the song "Closer" is a really great exploration of depression and its relationship with sex, with Reznor repeatedly describing his desolation mixed with his desire to fuck. I agree that a lot of music from that era, whether it's nu metal or industrial rock, explored masculinity and desire in interesting ways and I'd really enjoy reading more on the subject!
